Annual Fund

Through the Annual Fund, many of our alumni and friends pledge their support to Memorial on a regular basis. These funds secure annual funding for our faculties and schools and assist them in creating scholarships, bursaries, enriching programs, and assisting student leadership and development.

Each year, the university’s faculties and schools identify their areas of greatest need — such as scholarships for students, new equipment for researchers or a special project. The Annual Fund remains a key source of donations for Memorial — due in part to our alumni’s ongoing relationship with the university and commitment to its future.

The dean or director approaches their alumni individually with a letter requesting their support for this year’s major priorities. Student Communicators from Alumni Affairs and Development follow up with a phone call to confirm a donation. The money obtained during the Annual Fund is used during that year and goes toward to the area(s) designated by the donor.

This approach allows Memorial to tell alumni about exciting news and offers them a convenient way to support their alma mater. And it has made a difference, prompting increased donations from alumni.

Ways of giving to the Annual Fund:

Donate to a scholarship, bursary, or your faculty or school by making a gift online
Memorial faculty and staff as well as members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers Association (NLTA) can donate through payroll deduction
Make a gift of Aeroplan miles and help our students study abroad or compete at national and international competitions

Alumni Affairs and Development is pleased to accept your gift in a number of ways including payroll deduction, credit card, cash, or cheque.

Cheques can be made payable to Memorial University of Newfoundland. Please specify where your gift is to be designated on the 'MEMO' line of your cheque. Send your gift in the form of a cheque to:

Please note: One-time gifts made by credit card are receipted as your pledge is processed. Recurring gifts made through credit card are receipted at the end of the fiscal year.
