Geoff Eaton - Shave for the Brave Clipping for Cancer
“Welcome to my shop/Let me cut your mop,” sings Bugs Bunny in the parody The Rabbit of Seville. Now Geoff Eaton, a graduate of Memorial's business administration program 1998, is inviting you – sans song – to “shave for the brave.”

Geoff is a two-time cancer survivor and the founder and executive director of RealTime Cancer (RTC). Responsible for the strategic direction of the organization, Geoff has first hand experience attending support groups with people who are closer in age to his grandparents than to him. As a result, he recognizes that RTC’s vision is important and essential for Canadian young adults dealing with cancer.

The Shave for the Brave was introduced by RTC in 2006 when over 450 participants shaved their heads to raise more than $47,000 to support the development and delivery of programs for young adult cancer survivors.

On Saturday, March 3 at the Village Mall in St. John’s, NL, you can respond to Geoff’s challenge by having your head shaved or by donating 10 inches of your hair to create wigs for cancer survivors undergoing treatment.

Geoff also serves on the board of directors of the Cancer Advocacy Coalition of Canada, is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and vice president of the newly formed Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Professional Speakers.

He spends personal time riding his motorcycle with his wife, Karen; playing with his daughter, Adia; staying healthy with yoga, weights and hockey; and chasing that sometimes-elusive state of balance.
