Alumni Spotlight - Jane Rowe
Jane Rowe is on a dizzying climb up the corporate ladder. On May 8, Scotiabank President and CEO Rick Waugh announced that, effective immediately, this Memorial alumna (B.Comm. (Co-op) (Hons.)'81) is the new executive vice-president, domestic personal lending and insurance, and president and CEO, Scotia Mortgage Corporation.
Ms. Rowe, who joined the bank in 1987, is now responsible for Scotiabank's consumer, small business and commercial automotive lending. She's also taking the lead role for domestic insurance services. This appointment follows on Ms. Rowe's 2005 appointment as president and CEO of Scotiabank's Roynat Capital.
"In her role as president and CEO of Roynat Capital, Jane has been an exemplary leader with demonstrated results and a tremendous depth of knowledge and experience, and I look forward to her ongoing contribution to the bank … in her new role," said Mr. Waugh.
Ms. Rowe sits on the external advisory board for the University of Guelph's Centre for Studies in Leadership and serves on the board of directors for Sierra Wireless Corporation. She contributes annually to scholarship at Memorial's Faculty of Business.
