Your Privacy

Memorial University of Newfoundland is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information that is shared with us.

How your personal information is collected and used
Personal information is collected under the authority of Memorial University Act (RSNL1990 CHAPTER M-7) for the purposes of keeping our alumni and donor community informed of our programs and services and for fundraising for Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Your information is used to automatically enrol you as a member of the Memorial University of Newfoundland Alumni Association. We may use personal information to communicate with you about programs and services such as career, education, mentorship, volunteer, networking, award or social programs, surveys, participation in research projects or focus groups; to provide receipts for donations; and for fundraising purposes.

From time to time Memorial partners with corporate affinity partners. These companies offer alumni benefits through the use of their products, such as reduced rates or preferred service. Through these partnerships Memorial receives a financial benefit for alumni (voluntary) use of such services, which is applied directly to scholarships. We do not sell or otherwise publicly disclose alumni, donor or friends personal information, nor do we share alumni information directly with any of our corporate affinity partners.

While we do communicate with you to market products and services provided by our affinity partners, at no time do these companies have direct access to your contact information until you provide it to them yourself.

At any time you have the right to request that your personal information cease to be used for alumni programs and services or for fundraising purposes.

Your record will normally be updated within 10 business days. For more information or to make a request about the kinds of contact you would like to receive, please contact 1-877-700-4081 fax 709-737-2008; e-mail munalum@mun.ca.

Questions and concerns about Memorial's approach to protecting personal information should be directed to the Memorial University of Newfoundland Office of Alumni Affairs and Development, Rojean Williams, Research and Information Officer (erwilla@mun.ca, 709-737-4343).
